Glenn Maxwell and Nicholas Pooran not just saw the Melbourne Stars out of troubled waters but smashed the Sixers bowlers all over
The explosive West Indian left-hander Nicholas Pooran has arrived in the Big Bash League (BBL) and in some style.
After his exploits in the Indian Permier League (IPL) for the Kings XI Punjab in the recent season, Pooran has brought his similar big-hitting form for the Melbourne Stars in the ongoing edition of the BBL.
The Stars were in a spot of bother in the 9th over when they were reduced to 49/4. None of the batsmen from the top-order could score big and the men in green were desperately looking for a partnership and a quick one at that.
In came Nicholas Pooran and he found an able partner in skipper Glenn Maxwell. Pooran targeted the Sixers’ X-factor sub Gurinder Sandhu. He smashed him for a couple of sixes and Stars were in the driving seat and they took the Power surge.
The duo robbed 49 runs off those two overs as Stars now were looking at a high total with both Pooran and Maxwell ripping the Sixers bowling attack apart.
Given, this combination was the last batting partnership, the pair took its risks and were rewarded for it. Pooran completed his maiden BBL fifty in just 17 balls as Maxwell too followed the suit in 33 balls.
Pooran eventually got out in the 18th over, not before smashing 8 maximum sixes and amassed 65 runs off just 26 balls. The duo stitched a 125-run partnership as they blew the Sixers away. From 49/4 to 174/5, the partnership not just brought the Stars back into the game but ahead of the game.
The Maxwell-Pooran assault got the netizens applauding the two of the biggest hitters in the game. The users on social media was enthralled by the Max-Ran partnership as many of them welcomed Pooran to the BBL saying he is one of the cleanest hitters in the game.
